This album retains a portion of the genre-shifting approach of previous works, but deliberately exhibits more focus on the intersection of technical death metal and brutal death metal, especially with the addition of a highly skilled drummer in Allen Gingerich. Notable influences on Hydrophilous Brood include Mortal Decay, Wormed, Deeds of Flesh, Cephalic Carnage, and Cynic.
