Continuing with the Subaru Impreza S3 Rally Events challenges in Assetto Corsa Rally v0.6, this time moving on to the rain Time Attack at Steigenbach. Originally, I was trying to complete the Night Test first. Unfortunately, the game kept getting stuck on that challenge for some reason. I completed three runs and even managed to set a pretty fast time, but none of them could be properly saved. So instead of wasting more time on it, I moved on to the next challenge. 🌧️ Steigenbach in the Rain The rain test immediately became a different kind of challenge. Grip on the wet tarmac is currently very limited, so this was not a run where I wanted to take unnecessary risks. Because I was aiming to complete it in one attempt, the approach was slightly more cautious than usual. The priority was simple: Keep the Subaru under control. Get to the finish. Collect the Gold. 🇯🇵 Subaru Impreza S3 - Default Setup After the strong result with the Impreza S3 on Sisteron - St. Geniez, I again decided to stay with the default setup. No suspension changes. No differential adjustments. No tire-pressure experiments. Just the car as it comes. And once again, the default setup worked well enough to complete the challenge without needing additional tuning. 🌱 Grass Has More Grip Than Tarmac One unusual aspect of the current rain physics is that the grass can provide more grip than the wet tarmac in some situations. So instead of avoiding it completely, I deliberately used parts of the grass where it helped stabilize the car or maintain momentum. It may look strange from a normal rally-driving perspective, but with the current grip behavior in the game, it can actually be the safer and faster option. Something that will hopefully change as ACR's physics continue to evolve. 🎯 One Run, One Gold Because this was my first proper attempt at the rain challenge, I kept enough margin to avoid throwing the run away. There was no need for another attempt. The first run was enough to secure the Gold medal. And despite the cautious approach, the final time was also good enough for P24 on the world leaderboard. The runs could be completed and I even managed to set a competitive time, but the game kept getting stuck and the result could not be saved. For now, that challenge will have to wait. 🏁 Conclusion Another Subaru Impreza S3 challenge complete. The rain conditions made Steigenbach tricky, especially with the current grip difference between wet tarmac and grass. But the default setup worked well, the cautious one-run approach paid off and there was no need to repeat the stage. First attempt. Gold secured. P24 on the world leaderboard. 171 Gold medals out of 238 challenges. The Night Test may have refused to cooperate, but the medal hunt keeps moving forward. Never Give Up.
