Kate's fall in the Bridgerton Season 2 finale gives Anthony the best-built stretch of his whole arc. I think it does that by fixing him while Kate is unconscious, and that costs the love story more than the fireworks admit. In this essay I look at: The gazebo night in Episode 7 and why Kate's ride in the rain makes the fall feel like Anthony's fault. The bee sting in Episode 3, where Kate sees Anthony at his most frightened and steadies him herself, and why the fall plays that fear again with her out of the room. The two conversations that decide the finale, Violet with Anthony and Mary with Kate, and why both are between a parent and a child instead of between the couple. The strongest case against me: that Kate's refusal of his first proposal is the show taking her side, and the ball is proof enough that he changed. Whether the claim survives a rewatch, and the epilogue scene that finally gives Kate and Anthony the moment the finale held back. If you think the Violet scene is the romance working, tell me which moment convinced you. I'd like to hear it. And if you love this season as much as I do, stick around for more Bridgerton craft breakdowns.
