Yesterday, 26th September 2026, under the fully lit Poornima moon, the courtyard of Sri Yoga Ramar Temple at Nedungunam was filled with more than 2,000 devotees, all gathered to listen to Sri APN Swami speak about the one person who brought everyone together — Sri Rama. The evening began with an energetic “Jai Sri Ram!” and from there, Swami took us on a fascinating journey through Srimad Ramayanam. What made the Upanyasam particularly beautiful was the way Swami connected the incidents we have heard so many times in the Ramayanam with the very land around us — the temples, the rivers and even a nearby mountain in Nedungunam. Khara and Dooshana… Vali and Sugriva… Jatayu and Sampati… Mandodari… Shuka Maharshi… Each episode suddenly acquired a local connection and, in a way, the Ramayanam came alive right in front of us. But what stayed with me most was Swami's message about relationships and, particularly, the bond between brothers. The story of Jatayu and Sampati was a beautiful reminder of that inseparable bond. And then there was Vali… Even after everything that had happened between Vali and Sugriva, in his final moments, by the grace of Sri Rama, Vali's hatred melted away. His words to Sugriva were no longer those of an enemy, but of a brother. What a beautiful reminder that the grace of Sri Rama can change even a heart filled with bitterness. And perhaps that is why Swami's simple takeaway touched everyone: Listen to Srimad Ramayanam every day. Chant Rama Nama every day. We often look for something complicated to transform our lives. Swami reminds us that sometimes it is as simple as hearing the Ramayanam and saying “Rama.” The whole evening was made even more special by the wonderful arrangements by Sri Bhaskar, the Archakas of Yoga Ramar Kovil and all the volunteers. Their devotion and attention to every detail was evident. And seeing devotees from different parts of Tamil Nadu — including people who had travelled from Thiruvannamalai just to listen to APN Swami — was itself very moving. Jai Sri Ram! Sri Rama Jayam!
