CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Slams Rahul Gandhi, Defends ECI and SIR Amid Election Row

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over allegations concerning election results and defended the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Sarma questioned the Congress over its objections to election results in Assam and West Bengal, while pointing out that opposition parties had formed governments in other states under the same Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that the Congress was targeting democratic institutions, including the Election Commission and the Supreme Court. Defending the SIR process, Sarma said it was necessary to identify and remove ineligible names from voter lists.
