Why does September hurt when your house is empty? If everyone else's fall is full of backpacks and yours is full of silence, you are not imagining the weight of it. There is a real reason the season reaches in and finds you.
For about twenty years, September had a schedule and that schedule was yours. Your body kept running on it long after the supply lists stopped. This episode is for the empty-nesters, and just as much for the women September tends to overlook: those who never had children, those who wanted them and did not get them, those aching for a grandchild far away or a role they were never given.
In this episode:
-Why the fall calendar reopens an ache you believed you had already handled
-The name bereavement researchers give to seasonal grief, and why it is common and normal
-Why loss without a ritual is harder to carry, and what helps
How to let the ache be witnessed instead of burying it under a packed autumn
Scripture: Isaiah 46:4
Research note: "Anniversary reactions," the return of grief around calendar and seasonal cues, drawn from clinical bereavement research and National Center for PTSD guidance. Presented within wellness coaching scope, not medical advice.
