The septic system for my cabin and shop is in. What a relief to have sewer tied in. Although the bathroom in the old cabin is in disgusting condition now, at least it's something I can keep reasonably clean and usable. My goals for this trip was to have the new sewer system finished, and do a little framing on the barn / shop as time allowed. Nice milestone to achieve. This channel is dedicated to educating and entertaining anyone interested in the art/science of historic restoration, which will include construction techniques and goals, related off-site projects, a little homesteading and off-grid living, history and maybe even a little farming. On this property stands a Dogtrot style log cabin built in 1850, with an addition constructed in the 1970's. Although at one point, this was likely quite a nice and well cared for home, but years of neglect has caused a lot of deterioration.My intent is to have you learn some construction and restoration basics, as you watch.
