Deep focus music for study and work — A private room in an old Kyoto ryotei. Evening. Someone swept this room today. Someone set one cushion down, squared it, and left. Someone lit the lantern in the alcove at six. The alcove holds nothing else. The shelves hold nothing. Nothing has been served. Through the open shoji, a courtyard the size of a small rug — one stone lantern, wet stepping stones, moss. Two rooms away you can hear a door. The house is working. This room is not. MA is the Japanese word for the interval — the emptiness that gives shape to what surrounds it. This is an hour of that emptiness, built on deep bass, loose drifting percussion, and very little else. No traditional instruments on this one. A wordless voice on four tracks. The only thing that moves is the lantern. For deep work, reading, studying, and the hour you keep for yourself. New music every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
