I planned a Teen Amazing Race across Lisbon, Portugal… and let’s just say, it did NOT go exactly as planned. In this video, I’m taking you behind the scenes of how I created TEEN AMAZING RACE LISBOA—from the original idea and planning, to recruiting volunteers, scouting locations, testing routes, changing the rules, and finally putting everything to the test on game day. The goal was simple: give teens a fun way to bond, explore Lisbon, learn how to use public transportation, and build confidence navigating the city on their own. But between volunteers interpreting instructions differently, test runs that turned into an unexpected day of sightseeing, teams getting lost, people wanting to quit, and having to make decisions on the fly… I learned that planning an event is one thing. Managing the people and the unexpected is something completely different!
