India vs Turkey in the space race: How far ahead is ISRO when it comes to satellite manufacturing, indigenous technology, launch vehicles and strategic space capabilities? India’s space journey has been built over decades. From Aryabhata to Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, navigation satellites and advanced communication spacecraft, ISRO has developed a wide range of capabilities inside India. The country is no longer simply a satellite user or launch-service customer. Turkey has made visible progress in aerospace, defence and drone technology, while also building a stronger national space ecosystem. Its satellite story is much younger. RASAT, GÖKTÜRK-2, İMECE and TÜRKSAT-6A represent important steps toward greater indigenous capability. This video compares operational satellites with satellites that are actually designed and manufactured domestically. Indian programmes have demonstrated deep-space capabilities, while private companies such as Pixxel, Dhruva Space, Bellatrix Aerospace and Ananth Technologies are adding momentum to the space industry. Turkey is also building its domestic space ecosystem through TÜBİTAK UZAY, TUSAŞ, ASELSAN and CTECH. Its ambitions extend beyond satellites toward launch technology and a broader national space programme. So, is Turkey catching up with India? Can it reduce dependence on foreign-built spacecraft? How large is the gap between the Turkish Space Agency and ISRO? And can Turkey eventually develop an independent launch capability?
