Kenny Rogers DARED Dolly Parton to Sing The Gambler Live — Nobody Was Ready For THIS...

In the spring of 1983, Kenny Rogers had quietly decided to sing The Gambler one last time and then retire it forever. He hadn't told his band, his manager, or even his wife. But when Dolly Parton was added to a Los Angeles charity gala at the last minute, Kenny stopped his own biggest song before the first line and handed her the dare of a lifetime. What happened next left 6,000 people in tears, changed the way Kenny heard his own song, and quietly set the stage for one of the greatest duets ever recorded. And the four words Dolly wrote on his set list that night? He kept them for 37 years. This video is a dramatized retelling inspired by the lives and careers of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Barry Gibb, Lionel Richie, Anne Murray, Glen Campbell and Porter Wagoner. Dialogue and certain events have been recreated for storytelling purposes. #KennyRogers #DollyParton #TheGambler #IslandsInTheStream #CountryMusicLegends
