Origins of FROST is a next-gen Skyrim modlist built to modernize the game with high-end visuals, immersive systems, and strong overall stability—all while keeping the core feel of vanilla combat intact. In this Skyrim Marathon review, we put Origins of FROST through a two-hour uninterrupted stress test to see how that vision holds up in real gameplay—from performance and stability to combat flow, traversal, and overall cohesion. During the run, we apply sustained pressure to: • Performance and stability • Overworld traversal and LODs • Combat feel and balance • UI clarity • Visual consistency ________________________________________ 🔧 Modlist Details Modlist: Origins of Frost Author: Frost Version: 1.1 Total Size: 309 GB Install Size: 186 GB Downloads: 123 GB Last Updated: January 10th, 2026 ________________________________________ 🖥 PC Specs Used CPU: Ryzen 9700X GPU: Sapphire Pulse AMD 9070 XT (16GB) RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 Storage: 2TB Crucial P3 Plus Monitor: LG Ultragear 32GR93U-B 31.6” 4K IPS ________________________________________ ⏱ Chapters – Skyrim Marathon Run 00:00 – Introduction 04:15 – Character Creation 19:05 – Alternate Start – Life as a Forsworn 32:01 – Dragon Bridge – Unique Overhaul 37:43 – Solitude 51:55 – Morthal 1:05:22 – Dawnstar 1:16:05 – Northern God Armor Location 1:22:11 – Winterhold 1:34:42 – Bridge near Windhelm broken? 1:37:55 – Windhelm and strange manholes 1:43:10 – Windhelm Inn – Missing visuals and turning down business 1:50:32 – Go to Bed mod made my compass disappear 2:06:31 – Riften stairs blocking the path 2:08:22 – Riften and discovering auto run mod 2:12:36 – Testing auto run mod 2:43:10 – Whiterun Outskirts and City – Massive Overhaul – First time 2:47:24 – The strangest experience I’ve ever had at The Bannered Mare 2:52:36 – Outro/Verdict ________________________________________ 📊 Scoring Criteria Each modlist is scored from 1–5 across five categories: • ⚙ Performance • ⚔ Combat • 🖥 UI • 🌄 Visuals • 🧱 Stability The final score answers one question: Is this modlist worth committing hundreds of hours to — or should you move on? ________________________________________ Author Q & A: (Frost) 1. Question: What experience are you trying to build with this modlist? Answer: For Origins of FROST, I’m aiming to create a next-gen visual and immersive version of Skyrim, something that feels like what a 2026 edition of the game could have been. The goal is to modernize the experience while keeping it familiar and grounded. At its core, I wanted to preserve the soul of Skyrim, its atmosphere, identity, and sense of exploration, while elevating it with more cinematic visuals and refined mechanics. 2. Question: What design philosophy guides your decisions when developing it? Answer: I avoid stacking features just for the sake of it. Instead, I focus on how systems interact together: lighting with environments, combat with animations, performance with visual fidelity. If something breaks the flow or feels out of place, it doesn’t stay. I want to avoid high fantasy elements and keep it vanilla friendly. 3. Question: Why should someone choose your list over other large Skyrim overhauls? Answer: This list is built with intention rather than scale. A lot of large overhauls aim to include everything — mine is curated to deliver a consistent, cinematic experience from start to finish. It’s designed to feel polished and purposeful, not overwhelming. Also, I actively create content around it so players are getting guidance, showcases, and ongoing refinement based on real gameplay and feedback. ________________________________________ 🔗 Links • Github: https://github.com/FROSTGAMINGVERSE/O... • YouTube:    / @frostfxofficial   • Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspeci... • Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/u84553847/home Note: Wabbajack download file is on Patreon page and it’s free to sign up and download the file, no paid subscription necessary. • Join the Lorebound Discord:   / discord
