Suspense "The Body Snatchers" (November 24, 1942)

Midweek Radio from our 1940s Home.. A well-written tale of old England at a time when doctors bought human bodies on which to experiment. Up to the year 1832 the body snatchers terrorised England. According to the law only four bodies a year could legally be supplied to the surgeons for anatomical study and was limited only to criminals given the death penalty But, the supply was insufficient for the number of medical students who needed cadavers, so the difference was made up by "body-snatching. Perfectly reputable doctors were compelled to buy bodies and ask no questions. Burke and Hare found grave robbing too slow and murdered 16 persons in order to supply Dr Knox of Edinburgh And so out of basic good purpose sprang the evil of the body snatchers… committing murder for profit #OldTimeRadio #Suspense #RadioDrama #ClassicRadio #GoldenAgeOfRadio #Mystery #Thriller
