Kent County Council leader Linden Kemkaran warns that Britain faces “simmering, burning anger” over Channel crossings after anti-immigration demonstrations in Dover and Portsmouth. Linden says voters have repeatedly demanded lower immigration but have been “lied to” by successive governments.  She argues that Kent is bearing an unfair burden because arrivals in the county place pressure on local services, including provision for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
