I built a secret underground shelter beneath a giant rock while heavy rain poured through the forest. In Part 1 of this five-part bushcraft series, I begin excavating the ground, shaping the entrance, and creating the foundation for a hidden survival shelter protected by the massive rock above. Working alone in continuous rain makes every stage more difficult. The wet soil becomes heavier, water flows toward the construction area, and each part of the shelter must be carefully planned. With simple hand tools and natural materials from the surrounding area, I gradually transform this rough space beneath the rock into a secure underground bushcraft shelter. This episode focuses on the beginning of the build—from discovering the location and clearing the ground to digging and forming the first structure of the shelter. In the next episodes, I will continue expanding the interior, strengthening the entrance, building essential features, and turning it into a complete wilderness shelter.
