It was first released on November 2, 2004 for Windows. The game combines the gameplay of TimeGate's previous Kohan games with the boardgame Axis & Allies. Set during World War II, players command the armies of Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, Germany, and Japan. The game uses regiments and simulates supply lines, shifting focus away from micromanagement. Axis & Allies has two traditional campaigns, one for the Allies and one for the Axis. The Allied campaign follows a historical path from the Battle of El Alamein to the Japanese defeat in the Pacific, whereas the Axis campaign is ahistorical and allows players to lead Germany and Japan to victory over the Allies. Additional, the game has a WWII mode that uses a strategic map similar to that of the original boardgame. Players to control over one of the five great power, recruit divisions, research technology, and conquer territories in real-time battles. The side who manages to capture two enemy capitals first will win the war.
