Shibusa: Japanese Inspired Understated Luxury | Hive Architects | Featured on America ByDesign

SHIBUSA | HIVE ARCHITECTS Shibusa is a modern residence by Hive Architects, located on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida. Featured on America ByDesign, the project explores a quiet and refined approach to modern residential architecture, bringing together architecture, interiors, landscape, and the surrounding environment. Inspired by the Japanese concept of shibusa—an appreciation for understated beauty and simplicity—the home is defined by natural light, carefully considered materials, proportion, and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. From its architectural form and material palette to its interiors and relationship with the landscape, Shibusa reflects Hive Architects’ approach to creating modern homes that are distinctive, timeless, and deeply connected to their setting. Shibusa has received numerous awards for architecture and interiors and was featured in the Hive Architects – Masterpiece Series monograph, published by Oscar Riera Ojeda. This feature originally aired on America ByDesign (Season 7, Episode 2), presented by Adriana Perez-Leyva, AIA, airing on CBS News Livestream and simulcast across additional streaming networks.
