Pulsari - Game Showcase

Pulsari... is a game. I got a key for it a while back, but took me a while to get to recording it. As a concept it's neat: The better your combo the more of the music you hear, and the bigger the thing in the center is. This works well on many levels, so design-wise this should've been a fun experience... ...but the music/charts really kill it. The music is soulless, without a clear start/end (the start may be covered by the fact we don't hear all of the music when we begin) It's just... sounds. Melodic sounds, sure, but it feels like it lacks any soul. This already makes it hard to get invested into it, which is then not helped by the charting. The charts are monotonic. Almost every beat you have to press 1, on rare occasions 2 keys, and the only variation is which one. There is no varying speed of patterns, the music is too generic to have interesting things connect to it chart-wise, and after a while it all just falls into the same slow rhythm, even if the BPM is high. I legitimately have been starting to fall asleep by the second half of the recording, and it was recorded after 11AM so it's not like I was tired or sleepy. It was just so much brainless button pressing.
