At an abandoned forest ferry, Rusalka waits for those whose lives were taken by the water before their time. In this original Velesa interpretation, Rusalka is not a seductress who lures travellers to their deaths. She has a quieter and more meaningful place in the world of Navi: she meets the souls of young women at the water’s edge and guides them towards the gates beneath the ancient roots. Long ago, Rusalka arrived at the same pier—wet, frightened and still hearing her family calling from the world of the living. Someone took her hand and showed her the way. Now she continues that ancient chain, returning to the ferry each time the water brings another soul. The song combines hypnotic Slavic witch house with dark pagan folk: a solitary female voice, submerged bass pulses, sparse frame drum, gusli, bowed strings, wooden flute and the creaking of an old boat. The Russian lyrics follow one complete crossing—from awakening at the pier to the final gates of Navi.
