Sagging floors in older homes are almost always fixable without a contractor if you catch them early. This video covers the shimming method — how to jack up a floor slowly and shim the joists for permanent support. 📋 Free Home Maintenance Checklist → https://the-struggle-bus.beehiiv.com PRODUCTS USED & RECOMMENDED: → Wood Shims 8" Pro Pack (120 ct): https://amzn.to/4ngKlvk → Loctite PL Premium Construction Adhesive: https://amzn.to/4weWgxT → Adjustable Screw Jack Post (2 Pack): https://amzn.to/4cZKwrB → DEWALT Self-Leveling 3-Beam Laser Level: https://amzn.to/4fbRYBk In this video I use a screw jack to slowly raise a sagging 2nd floor, then shim underneath the joists for permanent support. We chose shims over floor leveler to keep weight down on the aging joists. IMPORTANT: Raise only 1/8" per week maximum. Going faster cracks drywall and damages plaster. PRO TIP: Glue your shims in — loose shims work free over time and the floor will creak and drop again.
