Can We Wake Up Ruma’s 53-Year-Old Engine?

After everything Ruma has been through, it's time to see if her original Yanmar engine still has a heartbeat. The old engine hasn't run in a long time. With a storm rolling through, a fuel system to sort, fresh oil to go in and plenty of uncertainty, this was supposed to be another step towards bringing my £1 sailboat back to life. But would she actually fire? I came close to giving up. Then, on one of the final attempts, something happened that I honestly wasn't expecting. This is one more step in Ruma's story — an old Macwester 22, a long-neglected engine, and one very determined owner trying to get her ready for the water. She's not ready to sail yet.
