For sixteen years, Napoleon: Total War has kept its land and sea battles apart. Now a modder is building real amphibious warfare into the game: ships and troops in one battle, boats landing troops under fire, and broadsides against the shore. It's an early first test and nothing is playable yet, but it points straight at the kind of battle that cost Napoleon Egypt.

In this video I break down what's being built for Napoleon: Total War, why Empire and Napoleon never had combined land and sea battles, and the real history behind them: the British landing at Aboukir in 1801, the Royal Navy's defence of Acre against Napoleon in 1799, and the crusader sieges of Acre in 1191 and 1291.
Which landing should be the first real test: Aboukir 1801, Acre 1799, Copenhagen, or Quebec 1759? Tell me in the comments.
