The Wrestlers that Carried WWE in each Generation l WWE Documentary l WWE Story

For more than six decades, WWE has repeatedly entered a new era — and each era has produced wrestlers who became central to its biggest championship stories, rivalries and moments. But who actually carried WWE in each generation? This documentary traces that story from Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund, through Hulk Hogan and the New Generation, into Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, then The Undertaker and John Cena, and finally Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. We look at the championship reigns, WrestleMania moments, rivalries and historical transitions that made these wrestlers central to different chapters of WWE history. Bruno's extraordinary championship reign. Hogan's arrival and the explosion of Hulkamania. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels defining the New Generation. Austin and The Rock becoming the defining rivalry of the Attitude Era. The Undertaker remaining a major WrestleMania attraction across generations. John Cena's long championship legacy. Roman Reigns' historic modern championship reign. And Cody Rhodes finally ending Roman's epic run at WrestleMania XL. The interesting part is that there isn't necessarily one answer. Some generations were built around a dominant champion. Some revolved around two rival stars. Others were defined by a wrestler whose influence extended across multiple eras. So when we ask “Who carried WWE?”, what exactly should count? Championship reigns? Longevity? Major events? Rivalries? Cultural impact? Or simply being the wrestler WWE built its biggest stories around? Watch the full documentary and follow WWE's changing center of gravity from Bruno Sammartino to Cody Rhodes.
