Poodle in the Puddle! | 1950s Americana Doo-Wop Novelty Song

A spotless little poodle, a muddy puddle... Experience the charm of 1950s Americana with a sweet retro poodle strolling through a nostalgic town. “Poodle in the Puddle” is a playful 1950s-style doo-wop novelty song with light swing, female lead vocals, and cheerful close-harmony backing vocals in a Cordettes' "Mr.Sandman" style. What starts as a simple walk through town quickly turns into a muddy little disaster — and maybe something more. Inspired by the fun, story-driven novelty songs and vocal-group sound of the 1950s. Lyrics: [Verse 1] I wore my polka-dot dress today Ready to step on boulevard display My little dog Pierre, combed neat and clean The fanciest poodle that you’ve ever seen He saw a fat pigeon, he made a sudden dive Slipped right off the leash at one forty-five He ran for the gutter, he made a mad dash Right into the mud with a great big splash [Chorus] (Poodle in the puddle) that's not right (Poodle in the puddle) he used to be white (Poodle in the puddle) do not play Get out of the puddle, stay! [Verse 2] I stood on the sidewalk, cryin' "Oh, my shoes!" Singin' the muddy-poodle heartbreak blues Then a tall handsome boy in a varsity coat Came runnin' right up like he jumped off a boat He rolled up his cuffs and he stepped in the goo Picked up my Pierre, sayin' "How do you do?" Pierre gave a shake, sprayed water all around Now the sweetest young man is the wettest in town [Chorus] (Poodle in the puddle) what a sight (Poodle in the puddle) he's holdin' him tight (Poodle in the puddle) oh my gosh Looking like he needs another wash [Bridge] We looked at the dog, and we started to smile He wiped off his face and we talked for a while He said, "Let’s get a towel and a warm shampoo Then a malted milkshake at the diner for two" [Verse 3] Now Pierre is back home, fast asleep in his bed With a shiny red ribbon tied onto his head And I’m on a date by the jukebox light Holdin’ hands with the boy who saved my night [Chorus] (Poodle in the puddle) no, no more Walkin’ hand in hand right through the door (Poodle in the puddle) made a mess so sweet Now we are walkin’ down the sunny street [Outro] Oooo Poodle in the puddle If you enjoy classic retro stories and the warmth of a bygone age, subscribe to the channel and keep the jukebox playing! #PoodleInThePuddle #1950sMusic #DooWop #NoveltySong #RetroMusic #VintageMusic #1950sAmericana #OldiesMusic #SwingMusic #MyLovely50s
