Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today on 27 August 2026. Today in South Africa, we begin with a major lightning storm at Standerton in South Africa. Overflowing Stompdrif Dam near De Rust. We are at the start line of the ABSA Run Your City 10km race early this morning in Tshwane. Round of golf in Benoni. Elephants crossing the Olifants River and elephants in the road in the Kruger National Park. Sunrise from the Gariep Mediclinic in Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province. Next, drone footage of a whale and her calf in Plettenberg Bay, and we will show you more from across South Africa Today. South Africa Weather Today Update Partly cloudy skies are expected across much of South Africa this Thursday, with an onshore flow bringing light rain to eastern regions and the chance of a quick shower over parts of central South Africa. Northerly winds will strengthen throughout the interior, resulting in berg wind conditions in the Cape Provinces and contributing to a warm to very warm day for most areas. The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds along the coast from Port Alfred to Port Edward, extending to Richards Bay and adjacent interior areas by the afternoon—these winds may disrupt small harbours, create hazardous navigation for vessels, and cause localised damage to infrastructure and settlements. Meanwhile, extremely high fire danger warnings remain in place for the Northern Cape Province, so residents are urged to exercise caution with any open flames. Overall, the weather will remain mostly dry and warm to very warm, apart from some cloud and drizzle along the eastern escarpment. Join us on a journey as we explore South Africa's beauty through daily video captures. From breathtaking landscapes to vibrant cities, we showcase our country's diversity and charm. Subscribe and come along for the adventure! We want to show our viewers as many places across the country as we can that are worth visiting. South Africa is a large country, and only some locals know where all these places are. We added a map we created to show where we filmed. We also try to provide some history of many of the towns, museums, and events in South Africa on that day. We take pride in bringing original, captivating videos that leave you in awe.
