Therefore, we read Pirqé Avot which is a book that explains the ways of Hashem and how to perfect ones tendencies/characteristics. Also, the Ḥachamim say, the actions of our fathers is a sign for their sons so we read six chapters to correspond to the six weeks until Shavuot in order to fix our characteristics in preparation for Shavu'ot where we receive the Torah.
