Former Election Commission chairman Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun on Monday (July 13) took his oath as the new Dewan Rakyat speaker amid shouts from the Opposition that no vacancy notice was given to lawmakers, which robbed them the opportunity to nominate their own candidate. In the middle of his speech, Azhar ordered Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad to leave the House and stay out until the sitting ended for the day.
