Abraham says, “God will provide himself a lamb,” and we refuse to let that line fly by at reading speed. Genesis 22 isn’t just a dramatic story about a father and a son; it’s a window into how God reveals redemption, substitution, and the deeper purpose behind Salvation. We walk carefully through the wording, the timing, and the weight of what’s happening on the mountain, including why that single sentence may point beyond the ram in the thicket toward the work of Christ on Calvary. From there, we zoom out to a theme the Bible won’t stop repeating: God’s Glory. We talk about the image of God, why humanity is created to reflect and spread that image, and how sin dulls it until Redemption restores what was lost. That reframes Salvation as more than “what I need” and turns it into a call to learn God’s story, because knowing the Redeemer is tied to living out our purpose. Then we step back into the scene and look hard at Isaac. He has the strength to resist, the awareness to understand danger, and yet he opens not his mouth. That choice brings Isaiah 53 into view and sharpens the typology of the Old Testament, showing how Scripture uses real history to form our faith. We also talk about why facts alone don’t change the heart, and why a slow journey through the Bible is meant to produce trust, obedience, and worship.
