JESUS, THE FACE WE DEFENDED COULD NOT SAVE US

A mask can protect an image while leaving a person unseen. The cross in this artwork points toward a faith that can name what lies beneath the performance. Listen, worship, and consider what it means to come before Jesus without a carefully defended face. Lord, we have spent energy preserving the version of ourselves we think others will accept. You see us without those rehearsed defenses. Help us bring our actual lives into prayer and treat others with the same honesty and gentleness. Amen.
