After working with thousands of people through their retirement transition, I've noticed something disturbing: the ones who struggle the most are never the ones who didn't save enough money. They're the ones who got blindsided by something else entirely. This channel supports people approaching or in retirement who want clarity, purpose, and confidence in this next chapter of life. If you’re feeling unsure, restless, or simply want clarity about what you need most right now, the Retirement Roadmap quiz will help you understand your next best step. If you have already retired, take the quiz here: https://bit.ly/rra-quiz-post If you are preparing for retirement, take the quiz here: https://bit.ly/rra-quiz-pre I had a client ring me six months after retiring. Successful career, solid finances, everything sorted. He was in tears. "I thought I'd be happy," he said. "What's wrong with me?" Nothing was wrong with him. He just didn't know what nobody tells you about retirement. See, everyone obsesses over the numbers. Have you saved enough? What's your withdrawal rate? How's your pension performing? And sure, that matters. But it's not what determines whether you'll actually be happy in retirement. There's a reason why some people retire and absolutely thrive - they're energized, purposeful, connected, living their best life. And there's a reason why others retire with the same amount of money and spend years struggling, isolated, wondering if this is really what they worked so hard for. The difference isn't in their bank account. It's in something else. Something that catches almost everyone off guard. I'm going to share five things in this video that I desperately wish everyone knew before they made the leap into retirement. Not the usual financial advice. Not the "make sure you have enough saved" conversation. The real stuff. The human stuff. The stuff that actually makes or breaks your retirement experience. Things like why your work colleagues will disappear (and why that's going to hurt more than you think). Why doing absolutely nothing might be the worst decision you can make. Why the advice everyone gives you about saving your money in retirement is actually backwards for most people. These are the patterns I see again and again. The mistakes people make. The regrets they share with me. The things they say "I wish someone had told me this before I retired." One client described his first year of retirement as "the loneliest time of my life." Another said she felt "invisible" - like she no longer mattered to anyone. A third told me he spent two years convinced he was developing dementia, only to discover it was something completely different (and fixable). These aren't outliers. This is common. This is what happens when you prepare financially for retirement but not psychologically or socially. And here's what really gets me: it's all preventable. Every single bit of it. If you know what's coming, if you prepare properly, retirement can be absolutely brilliant. Some of my happiest, most fulfilled clients are retired. But they did things differently. They knew something that others didn't. The question is: are you going to be one of the people who figures it out, or one of the people who struggles for years trying to work out what went wrong? I've watched people retire with £500,000 and be miserable. I've watched people retire with £200,000 and thrive. The difference has nothing to do with the money and everything to do with what I'm sharing in this video. Look, retirement is probably one of the biggest transitions you'll ever make in your life. You're not just changing jobs. You're changing your entire identity, your daily structure, your social connections, your sense of purpose. That's massive. And most people walk into it completely unprepared for what's actually about to hit them. So if you're thinking about retirement, if it's on your radar in the next few years, or if you've already retired and you're struggling to figure out why it doesn't feel the way you thought it would - this video is for you. The Retirement Roadmap Quiz is in the description - it takes five minutes and will help you figure out where you actually stand on the things that really matter for a happy retirement. Right, let's talk about what nobody tells you about retirement. 💬 LEAVE A COMMENT: What surprised you most about this? Or if you're already retired, what do you wish someone had told you?
