What You Don’t Need‼️2000 Mile Adventure | XR150L | The Journey Home

This is Jason Salyer with Moto ON3, and today I begin the long ride home from Central Texas all the way back to North Georgia on the tiny Honda XR150L. Roughly 1,100–1,200 miles on a lightweight dual sport motorcycle that most people would never choose for a cross-country motorcycle adventure. Wide open throttle, back roads, highways, rough weather, long miles, and this little XR150L just keeps going. In this episode, I discuss real-world motorcycle travel, minimalist adventure riding, budget ADV motorcycles, motorcycle camping, lightweight gear, and why inexpensive machines that actually work are often more enjoyable than expensive luxury motorcycles. I could’ve spent $30,000 on a BMW GS1300 adventure bike, but honestly, I don’t think I’d be having any more fun than I am right now on this little $2,600 Honda XR150L. Less stress. Less burden. More adventure. More freedom. I also discuss the XR150L’s performance during this journey, riding it nearly pinned the entire trip, dealing with excessive oil consumption, experimenting with a crankcase breather hose modification, fuel efficiency, comfort, reliability, and what it’s really like traveling long distance on a small motorcycle across America.
