What can I say about Quest for Glory (quite a bit, apparently)? One of my favorite game series ever that had a major impact on me! This title was also known as "Hero's Quest" for the first print of the game, but was changed due to a copyright conflict to "Quest for Glory". This game series is very creative and a bit different than most point and click adventure titles. One of the reasons is class selection - you can play as a Fighter, Mage, or Thief and while the story arc is mostly the same, puzzles can be different for each class as well as small portions of quests. Depending on which game in the series it is you are playing, the differences are more stark. There's also a fourth, hidden class that starts to show up in the second game in the series. Not only do you choose classes, but you have a stat window with stats that can raise based on use, which I always thought was great. These features made these titles more immersive to me than competing titles like "King's Quest". Keep in mind, please, that this is not to knock King's Quest - I like those games. It's just for sake of comparison and I feel as though King's Quest is the most well recognized and popular title of this sort from that era.
I hope you enjoy this retrospective, if so, please let me know whether or not I should continue my quest in Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire to the desert land of Shapier next!
Special thanks to my daughter, I will always love you baby girl.
Special thanks to Corey and Lori Cole for creating this amazing series that I will always covet and hold close to my heart.
