The Solo Deck Changes Everything in Pulp Alley

We take a look at the Solo Deck, what's on the cards, how they work and then have a short walk through of the Solo Deck in use in a game. Pulp Alley is a miniatures agnostic, narrative driven heroic action / skirmish miniatures game. Uniquely, it has been designed to be playable against another player, against multiple other players, as a co-operative game and as a solo game. Typically if you are playing Solo you will have a league that you are playing and a 'NPC' league that is opposing you. You still need a bit of imagination to activate the NPC league using either the rules for NPC's on page 92 of the rulebook, or your own set of rules for your scenario. This could be something like 'Leaders & Sidekicks will concentrate on searching for clues (solving plot points), Allies & Followers will try to defend them, moving to be between 6" and 12" from the nearest enemy and shooting when ever possible. That is the predictable part of 'Solo Play'. The Solo Deck adds the unpredictable part that you would only normally get from playing against a real opponent. The first three characters to activate draw cards from the Solo Deck. These can effect the character drawing them, an enemy figure or the whole parameters of the turn or the game. One of our viewers has kindly pointed out to me that I have used a non-standard term 'Ouch' when a character takes an injury. This is because we have a set of custom Pulp Alley tokens we have been using for the last 12 years. The Injury token has 'Ouch' engraved on it and the Combat Action token has 'Pow', so we talk about taking a 'Pow' or an 'Ouch', where the official terms are taking an injury or taking a combat action.
