KALARI PAYATTU performance by Vallabhatta Kalari and Students

SAMEEKSHA - WORKSHOP BY SPIC MACAY A one week Youth intensive workshop by SPIC MACAY, a non-political nationwide voluntary movement. The workshop aims at promoting classical music and dance, folk arts among the youth of this campus to make them more aware about Indian and world heritage. This initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it highlights all that is abstract, subtle, inspiring and mystical in the world teaching one to look within oneself. Profile of Vallabhatta Kalari ***************************** A Life Style more than a Martial Art Male members of the Mudavungattil family were the commanders-in chief of the Vettath Raja. Then the members of this family were great deponents of Kalaripayatt and held the Gurustanam of the Royal family. The records of 1915 and 1925 state that Vallabhatta traditional Kalari was in existence since the Vettath Raja’s regin began. This Kalari exists even now, at Niramaruthoor, Tirur Taluk, Malappuram District, but it is mainly kept as a Kalari Temple. Vallabhatta Kalari as a fantastic reputation. Classes were conducted in the states of Kerala, Tamul Nadu and Karnataka under the late Gurukkal Sankunni Panicker. He as the last member of the Mudavangattil Family on whom the title of ‘PANICKER’ was conferred by the Vattath Royal Highness. Late Gurukkal Sankunni Panicker had his training under his uncle the late eminent Gurukkal Krishna Panickerachan, disciple of Eravi alias Karunakara Panicker. The late Gurukkal Sankunni Panicker gave equal importance in the promotion of Marma Chikilsa, Kalari Payatt, simultaneously. Our Institution runs traditional training Centre CHAVAKKAD and has been performing Kalaripayat all over India and Abroad.
