Aerial footage of the site of Quantum DC’s proposed 1.2GW Tungkillo Compute and Energy Hub at 312 Collins Road, Tungkillo, South Australia.
Quantum DC is proposing a hyperscale data centre with capacity of up to 1.2GW, along with new substations, electrical infrastructure and on-site gas-fired reserve generation.
This footage shows the proposed site as it currently stands, along with the nearby Tungkillo substation, 275kV transmission infrastructure and battery development currently under construction.
The scale of the proposal is significant. At 1.2GW, Tungkillo would sit in the same broad power class as some of the largest AI data centre developments being built internationally, including OpenAI’s Stargate campus in Texas.
I wanted to document the area as it exists now, before any development application has been approved or construction associated with the proposed Quantum DC development has begun.
The landscape is currently predominantly rural grazing country, with livestock, scattered mature trees, waterways and farm dams throughout the area.
As of 29 October 2026, a development application for the Quantum DC project has not yet been lodged.
