The Bush Twins Led Double Lives For Years, And America Never Knew

Everyone saw the headlines. Far fewer saw the lives behind them. Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush became national tabloid fixtures after police citations in Austin in 2001. But that familiar story leaves out Yale, the University of Texas, a Washington classroom, a children's hospital in Cape Town, and a UNICEF office in Panama. This documentary follows the Bush twins from their Texas childhood into the glare of a presidential family, exploring how a convention of privacy around presidents' children helped keep ordinary work out of the news. Drawing on the family history and memoir accounts discussed here, we trace the distance between a famous surname, a public reputation, and two lives that received surprisingly little attention. #GildedShadows #PoliticalDynasties #FamilyHistory #Documentary #BushTwins #JennaBushHager #BarbaraPierceBush #GeorgeWBush #PresidentialFamily #WhiteHouse
