Nine centuries are in here, from the two children buried under a staircase to the German agent shot strapped to a chair in 1941 because his broken ankle meant he couldn't stand. And the chapel inside the walls stands on a mass grave, something Victorian workmen discovered when the floor started sinking underneath them.
