Ștefan Niculescu – Ison Ia (1973)

Ștefan Niculescu (1927-2008) Ison Ia* (1973) Cornel Țăranu / Ars Nova Ensemble of Cluj *Ison I has two orchestral variations: "a" for 14 soloists and "b" for large orchestra. The score is the same for performance in both variations, and identical for the woodwind instruments. Regarding the trumpets, horns, trombones, and strings, the text in variation a is performed exclusively by the soloists, while in variation b it is played according to all the instructions in the score (alternation between solos and tutti).
