Georgetown University MCGSO Student Research Day 2026 Keynote: Sahar Alothman, Ph.D.

Keynote speaker Sahar Alothman (G’13, G’18), an alumna of the Georgetown University master’s and Ph.D. programs in Tumor Biology and U.S. medical director for breast cancer at AstraZeneca, shared career advice and encouragement with students at Student Research Day on October 20, 2026. Alothman described the chapters of her ambitious postgraduate career, encompassing project leadership in pharma and at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), an immunology advisory role in Saudi Arabia, and even a stint as an English language teacher during the COVID-19 pandemic, all leading to her current role with AstraZeneca.
