Bristol born Robin Cousins is one of the best figure skaters in the world, but so far the overall championship gold medal has escaped him. We join him in Colorado - where he has lived for the past two years - on a rigorous training programme under Olympic coach Carlo Fassi. Later, at the Wembley Centenary Ice Gala, Cousins and John Curry - the former British, European, World and Olympic champion - talk about the show-business side of skating. We follow the tensions of the compulsory figures - the event Cousins most dreads - and hear his own thoughts about his performance in the short and long free-skating programme. Will the coveted gold medal at last be his at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics - or remain 'on ice' even longer? Narration by Andrew Harvey. Clip taken from Gold On Ice, originally broadcast on BBC One (South West), 20 March 1979.
