We have the Twilight version here like the P20 Pro, but you can also pick one up in Emerald Green, Midnight Blue, Pink Gold and Black. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is no doubt a really good looking device, with its glass front and back and metal frame that feels solid and premium in hand. Huawei is using Hyper Optical Pattern on the glass back that plays with light and shadows for an amazing optical effect. Thanks to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro 6.39" 19.5:9 aspect ratio too, it's not too wide in hand and although it's tall you can turn on one-handed mode to use it easily. It's 2K FullView OLED display is rich in colour saturation with high contrast ratio. Elsewhere on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, you get a volume rocker, a red power button which is cool, down at the bottom, a USB C port which also has a speaker integrated so you won't see a speaker grill here, next to it is a dual nanoSIM tray with the option to use one of them as a memory card slot using a nano SD card. Up top, there's an IR blaster so you can also use the Mate 20 Pro as a remote control. For performance, you get Huawei's latest 7nm process Kirin 980 chipset that is built to handle any task you throw at it, that with a Dual NPU, it's improved a lot when it comes to how intelligent it is. For the gamers, you have the latest Mali G76 GPU in there for a smooth gaming experience. For software, you have Android P based EMUI 9 with some improvements in the performance like app launch and steps taken to find menu options. Using the latest Kirin 980 chipset, you can expect 46 percent more power and a NPU that is 226 percent more powerful than the 970 and a lot more efficient. Besides its AI capability and how powerful the Mate 20 Pro is, three things I'm really excited about are 1 its battery performance with 4,200 mAh battery capacity with SuperCharge whether you are tethered or wirelessly charging the Mate 20 Pro, it's Triple Leica camera setup with a 40MP F1.8 wide angle lens, 20MP Ultra Wide 16mm f 2.2 lens and a third 8MP 3 X Telephoto lens with f2.4 aperture and OIS for shaky hands. and a new feature called reverse wireless charging which will let you charge your friend's phone if they have wireless charging. For selfies, there's a 24MP F2.0 camera on the front and will let you shoot portrait mode too just like its main camera. The night mode that we've come to love about the P20 Pro is present and a pleasure to use, I also like that you can use the zoom lens in portrait mode and night mode works when using the wide angle lens too. The matrix camera system also gives the Mate 20 Pro a distinctive look so when you see it out and about you will know what phone it is very easy. There's also a new AI Portrait Color video mode that is pretty cool, it isolates the human subject and desaturates colours around them as you see in movies. It doesn't end there, the Mate 20 Pro features digital health which allows you to keep an eye on your phone usage and event set rest times so you can be present in your daily life. Overall, the Mate 20 Pro is a good looking device, its camera is ready for various scenarios whether you want to shoot close up macro shots, wide, ultra wide or want to zoom in closer to your subject, it has a big battery that will last you all day and then some, AI is embedded or integrated to ensure the best user experience, you get digital health and the Mate 20 series can even identify objects to counting food calories.
