Held alongside the Madrid Global Stocktaking, World Obesity Federation’s annual flagship convening – the Global Obesity Forum - will focus on shared accountability for progress across the obesity ecosystem. Governments have responsibility for population level public health policies as well as policy to guide the health system in implementing prevention and management of obesity. Alongside, important contributions are made by international organisations, scientific and professional communities, civil society, people living with obesity, youth, and other stakeholders. The Forum will create a space to bring these various perspectives together, reflect on implementation experience, and consider the different roles stakeholders can play in supporting and accelerating progress under the WHO Acceleration Plan. The Global Obesity Forum 2026 will: • Advance the conversation on shared accountability, exploring the distinct and complementary roles different actors play in supporting implementation and progress. • Bring implementation experience to the table, surfacing common challenges, emerging opportunities and lessons from different countries and settings. • Put lived experience and civil society at the heart of the discussion, ensuring that perspectives on how policies, systems and services are experienced in practice are part of the global conversation on progress. • Connect the global obesity community, creating opportunities for exchange between policymakers, scientific and professional communities, civil society, people living with obesity, youth and other stakeholders. • Build momentum beyond Madrid, capturing key perspectives, priorities and areas of convergence to inform World Obesity's future thought leadership, policy and country engagement and continued dialogue through the Global Obesity Coalition.
