MAJOR UPDATE August 2026! The structure of this clock - the way it hangs off the wall and how everything is connected together- is fundamentally flawed. After about eight months, I could not get it to work for long anymore. Long story short, I’ve spent countless amounts of time (pun intended) and iterations, only to find out things will simply not work well due to friction and things slightly binding up. A shelf clock is in the works for the future with much more improvements. Original Description: A video about the marriage of Lego and clockmaking. After years of involving myself in the craft, I wanted to bring to light this fantastic hobby and niche. The pendulum wall clock, which I combined the mechanics of David Ziemkiewicz and Darrel Aldrich, is designed as a hybrid by me. All details in the video! 100% Lego 100% mechanical Accurate up to two seconds per week Also a brief history of Lego clocks and the niche hobby itself! Below are all the relevant Lego clockmakers mentioned in the video and David's book: @dav‪@davidziemkiewicz1350‬darrell‪@darrellaldrich8334‬onista ‪@KEvronista‬arlet ‪@DillonSharlet‬KeiAbeけ‪@Nico71Fr‬rysf ‪@KeiAbeけいけい‬ Chap‪@borysf‬00:00 -‪@berellevy2‬case 03:07 - History of Lego Clocks 10:01 - Clock Overview and David's Book 11:57 - Gear Ratios 13:59 - Clock Structure 16:07 - Escapement 20:07 - Wheel Train 25:17 - Lego Friction Checker Tool 26:44 - Comparison to Real Clock 27:23 - Pendulum 28:50 - Weight System 32:20 - Clock Face/Design 33:28 - Conclusion Book available on Amazon and David's channel - "Guide to Lego clocks: Science of measuring time with bricks." by David Ziemkiewicz. Note* I will NOT be making instructions for this clock, as most of it is a hybrid of David and Darrel's designs, which instructions already are readily available on their channels. I also show most of the clock in the video, it shouldn't be too difficult to follow and reverse engineer.
