Under the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a major step has been taken to secure Lahore’s long-term water future with the approval of the PC-I for the city’s first Surface Water Treatment Plant. With an estimated cost of Rs. 31 billion, the modern plant will be established on the BRB Canal with a treatment capacity of 54 million gallons per day (MGD). In its initial phase, the project will provide treated surface water to areas including Baghbanpura, Shadipura, Fatehgarh and Mughalpura, helping reduce Lahore’s dependence on groundwater and diversify the city’s water sources. The project will use modern treatment and disinfection processes to make surface water safe for use, while supporting Lahore’s growing water needs and strengthening long-term water security. Today’s investment in water infrastructure is an investment in Lahore’s future — safe water, a resilient city and a secure future for coming generations. #CMMaryamNawaz #SurfaceWaterTreatment #Lahore #PunjabGovernment #WaterSecurity #CleanWater #WaterManagement #PunjabDevelopment #LahoreWater #Pakistan
