Two forgotten castles, one peaceful adventure. Today we’re exploring Kerelaw Castle and Eglinton Castle in Ayrshire — a relaxing, dog-friendly wander through woodland paths, castle ruins, and quiet country park scenery. We start at Kerelaw Castle near Stevenston, wandering around the atmospheric remains and learning a bit about the history along the way. Then we take a short scenic drive across Ayrshire to Eglinton Castle — once one of Scotland’s grandest estates — where the dogs enjoy wide-open fields, forest trails, and exploring around the ruins.
