After ten thousand years in stasis, Roboute Guilliman has awakened in the 42nd millennium to a galaxy in crisis. Through the combined efforts of Balarius Cawl and the Eldar Yvrainne, the Ultramarines’ Primarch was brought back from the brink of death. In quick succession, Roboute travelled to meet with his father, was promoted to Imperial Regent, started the Indomitus Crusade to bring Primaris Space Marines to beleaguered chapters, and defeated the Daemon Prince Mortarian during the Plague Wars. Where before there was despair, now there is hope. Guilliman is a master tactician and logistician, using his skills to protect the 500 worlds of Ultramar from Orks, Necron and Chaos forces. Guilliman is equipped with:- The Armour of Fate: a glorious suit of artificer armour that protects the Primarch from without and within, keeping the poison delivered by Fulgrim’s fatal blow from further harming the wearer. Hand of Dominion: a godly power first that is a symbol of his might and authority. This is the same relic weapon borne by Roboute during the Horus Heresy, but upgraded to included a built on heavy bolter. The Emperor’s Sword: originally welded by the Emperor and imbued with his psychic might, this sword is capable of permanently erasing daemons from existence. Of all of the Primarch releases to date, I consider this one of the best for the simple reason that it comes with a helm, an accessory most of the other releases could have benefited from. Joytoy have failed to realise or simply failed to acknowledge that many people don’t like the “Primarch” head sculpts, and would much prefer a helmet. This is certainly the case with Corvus Corax and Konrad Curze. Regarding the collector’s edition paint finish: the golds are definitely more multi-tonal and give the model a more shimmering aspect, which could be consider an improvement. However, in general the blues are more muted and the greens are more vibrant. The laurels definitely stand out for all of the wrong reasons. The end result is that of an oversaturated photo. I don’t feel this offers much that is worthy of calling it a collectors edition, accept for the unique packaging. If you already have the original edition, be content with it.
