I visited Elvis’s boyhood home, church, and surrounding sites, drawing from on-site museum records and historical sources to reconstruct what his childhood was truly like—not the legend, but the boy who lived through hardship and uncertainty. This is not the story of the King of Rock and Roll. It is the story of the child Tupelo nearly lost—and how survival came before stardom. This documentary explores Elvis Presley’s childhood in Tupelo, Mississippi, including his family’s poverty, his father’s imprisonment, the devastating 1936 Tupelo tornado, and the early influences that shaped his love of music.
