An Outback Adventure Not To Miss, Walgett, Brewarrina & Bourke

This is it — the final leg of our epic journey along the Kamilaroi Highway, and what a ride it's been! In this episode, we travel through the heart of northwest New South Wales, stopping at Walgett, Brewarrina, and Bourke, uncovering local stories, incredible history, and true outback hospitality. 👉 First stop: Walgett We roll into Walgett, a small but proud outback town. We take some time to check out the local shops, street art, and get a feel for life in this tight-knit community. There's something special about the wide-open skies and the friendly faces here — a classic Aussie country town with plenty of character. 👉 Next up: Brewarrina (aka "Bree") We find an awesome campsite right on the Barwon River, the perfect place to unwind and soak in the serenity. But the real highlight is our visit to the Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps (Ngunnhu) — these ancient stone structures are over 40,000 years old and offer an incredible insight into Indigenous ingenuity and sustainable living. We also take a look around the town and chat with locals to learn more about Brewarrina’s unique and powerful place in Australia’s cultural history. 👉 Final destination: Bourke We wrap up our Kamilaroi Highway adventure in Bourke, one of the most iconic outback towns in NSW. Here, we visit the resting place of legendary humanitarian Fred Hollows, whose work changed countless lives. We stroll along the historic Port of Bourke Wharf, once a bustling hub during the riverboat era.
