HYPOCRISY IN NIGERIAN CHURCH Why Are Some Pastors Silent Now

Why are some Nigerian Christian leaders being accused of speaking more loudly against past governments than they do today? In this video, we examine a difficult and controversial question about the role of pastors, apostles, prophets, evangelists and other Christian leaders in Nigeria’s political and social life. The discussion looks at the changing political environment from the Goodluck Jonathan era to subsequent administrations, the hardship faced by Nigerians, insecurity and killings affecting communities, and the concerns raised by Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo over violence in Plateau and other parts of northern Nigeria. Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has publicly spoken about killings and insecurity affecting communities in Plateau State and has called for greater attention to the victims. Reports have also documented threats against him following his advocacy. The central question is simple: should Christian leaders speak consistently about injustice, hardship, insecurity and the protection of human life regardless of which political party, administration, region or religious background is in power? This video is intended to encourage Nigerians and Christians to think critically about leadership, accountability, consistency and the responsibility of the Church in society.
