Hi again!
This Sidekick came in with a terrible leak, at which we found an oil pump seal had been dislodged and leaking all over the world.
We cleared the oil return hole and gave it a needed timing and water pump service, adjusted valves and replaced the valve cover gasket. It left happy, but came back in three months with an oil leak that resembled the first one. I thought something may have happened to the front crank seal again, so that was my anticipation, considering possibly the oil pump backing plate fasteners had come loose, or we hadn't cleared the oil return hole enough etc.
So inward for some minor exploratory surgery.
We found the timing kit and both seals dry and functioning as they should. During the inspection I noticed quite the oil stain beginning at the corner of the valve cover...and then the simple answer was revealed!
That particular Felpro cork gasket had shrunk more than I've seen most. We did glue it in place too. Take two...
In this video you'll see a basic belt removal, upper cam sprocket removal, and valve cover gasket replacement, along with an idea of what it will entail for you to give it a try, along with a couple tips and the torque value.
If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments and I'll try and answer them as quickly as I can.
Thanks for watching, and good luck!
